Text adventures: New port of GEMagnetic

GEMagnetic (respawn)

The adventures from Magnetic Scrolls are considered milestones in the world of interactive fiction: The Pawn, Guild of Thieves, Fish, and other games impressed with their excellent parser and beautiful graphics. The adventure interpreter Magnetic has been available for many years for running on current systems.

Dan Ackerman ported this interpreter to the ST as GEMagnetic: text and graphics appear in two separate GEM windows, allowing the adventures to be played in higher resolutions.

Rajah Lone has now embarked on a new implementation and released it as GEMagnetic (respawn). The reason for this was that the old port had difficulties with True Color.

The new version uses offscreen VDI routines provided by NVDI. As with his other programs, he provides versions for 68000, 68020 to 68060, and Coldfire (Firebee), as well as the source code.
