Image editor Vision 5.0 released

The graphics and slideshow program Vision continues to be maintained and has now reached version 5.0. The application is the only image editing program specifically for the Atari that receives regular updates. The new version includes the following changes:

Bug fixes:

  • The extended text editing of QRCODE LDV was limited to about 80 characters, but now all lines are taken into account.
  • Incorrect palette used for the mono-matrix dithering method.
  • Better handling of differences between upper and lower case in file names (e.g., MagicOnLinux using the host file system).

New and improved features:

  • cacert.pem updated
  • VISION now automatically manages the LDV real-time preview feature
  • When VISION disables the LDV real-time preview feature, either a red square or an animated bar appears at the top center of the preview. This is controlled by VISION’s INI NoRealTimeAlgo entry in the [LDV] section
  • For LDVs that report the new LDVF_IGNORESRC flag, VISION does not generate a source preview in order to avoid unnecessarily stretching/converting the source image. This significantly improves the initial rendering time on certain graphics cards (e.g., NOVA 256 colors).
  • QRCODE LDV reports LDVF_IGNORESRC
  • Automatic detection of Chunky 256-color video mode:
    • RasterZoom uses this mode
    • LDV preview rendering also uses this mode, and each LDV can call CoGetScreenInfo to check if this mode is currently in use
  • Improvements to BHOLE-LDV:
    • Support for 68881 using memory-mapped instruction sets
    • 68030 routines enabled for 68020 (e.g., MagicOnLinux)
    • Better visual effects for machines without FPU: Use distance instead of its square for the rotation angle.
    • Precalculation of cosine/sine now significantly faster
    • Support for Chunky 256-color video mode: significantly faster (avoids bitplane/index conversions, uses black hole symmetry) and saves memory space
