WiFi modem for the STBook

Atari’s STBook was a revolutionary notebook, but only 1,200 units were ever produced. Thirty-four years later, there is now an internal modem for the device.

To achieve its small size, Atari made various compromises, foregoing a floppy disk drive and standard MIDI jacks. Underneath the new vector pad, Atari engineers left room for an internal modem. However, this never appeared, nor did any other extensions – many Atari fans have never seen an STBook, let alone a working one.

Andres Plaza owns two that are fully functional. He has now developed a WiFi modem and published the blueprint on Github for others to replicate. After successful installation, the internal modem is then activated with the INTMODEM.PRG program.
